Hi again Dieter - I'll have a try at sorting it out - Is there any difference in the code between 161 and 162?  When I set the currency to £ in 161 ther is no problem? . . . thanks for your help . . .

No - not in the code ...
but there is a difference in the way the config file is stored.
eConfig161.pl has been stored (and delivered) under latin-1 (charset)
eConfig.pl has been stored (and delivered) under utf-8 (charset)

I tested the currency-sign again - and it works as expected.

Hi again - I have tried saving the file in latin mode but when I ran the program I just got  a blank screen - id there not a utf8 code for the £ symbol which I can insert in the normal way.  Sorry to bother you with this but my code-ing skills are obviously not up to speed . . . . thanks . . . .
