Interesting discovery with bid agent function
05/12/06 at 07:51:11

Hello,
I just discovered an interesting issue when two people are using the bid agent against each other.

say an item is for sale starting at 1.00
user1 uses the bid agent with a 5.00 bid so his initial bid is actually just 1.00 for now
user2 uses the bid agent with a 7.00 bid so his initial bid will jump to 6.00 to beat user1.

this all makes sense and works fine but when you go back to view the item the bid history may confuse user2. The reason is that user1's last bid still shows as only 1.00 and user2's bid is at 6.00. This may cause user2 to wonder why their bid agent jumped up to 6.00 when the last bid only shows as 1.00.

The code worked as expected but the user experience is confusing. Is there away to either warn user2 at the time of their bid that their bid was increased by another user's bid agent or have the previous bid increase to that user's bid agent max so the second user is not confused as to why their bid went so high so fast.

It works fine if you under bid another users bid agent as a warning about that is dispalyed but no message is displayed if you over bid another bid agent.

Does this make sense?
Thanks Smiley
Tom
