Can someone help?

I set the startup time 1 day from now
I set the deadline 2 days from now
(I did not change any server time settings in the Post New Item form)

I posted the item, expecting no one to be able to post until tomorrow, or 1 day from now, but find that users can begin to bid as soon as it is posted.

Any help is as always appreciated.
