Ok new to this but the line of code is the one causing the error as the error goes away if I comment it out.  I reuploaded it in ascii and did a clean install but still get the error unless I comment out that line.  Will commenting it out cause major problems?  Is there a workaround?  every thing else seems to work great.

Just thought I would let you know I removed the line and the error goes away?  what function did I losing as everything seems to work?

You will lose the 'lock function'.
That means:
if two (or more) users bid at the same time, then the item file will crash.

Please, check whether the file $form{'ITEM'}_lock.dat was actually created.
