That's what your server returnes when it doesn't allow to create directories in the 'NON WEBACCESIBLE' area.
Please, contact your privider.

Ok, Here we go lets see if i can get some help?

first i downloaded your software Then i went to the eConfig161.pl then all i did to make it easy is edit the

$config{'basepath'}              = '/@@@@/@/0/51/93//user/@@@@@@/cgi-bin/eAuction161';

now is there more i need to edit to make this work? i know i need to edit email and stuff like that but i can do that after i get it up and running right ?

Then i made a sub in my cgi-bin of eAuction161 chmod it at 755

Then i uplaoded eConfig161.pl and  chmod it at 644

Then i uplaoded eAuction.pl and  chmod it at 755

then i tried to http://www.mylife.com/cgi-bin/eAuction161/eAuction.pl

i then get an

eError

Permission denied

Then i call my server to make sure that the path was right and it is . Then i made sure that a sub directory could be made in 'non-web-area' like the cgi-bin and they said yes now is the cgi-bin the 'non-web-area' you are talking about ?

Please help anyone

Thanks

The content of $config{'basepath'} means: the path to the data directories/files (and not the path to the program directories/files).

could you give me more details as to what the data directories/files are i thought it was all in the eAuction161 everywhere else i read on here has the path to there. do i have to make my own auctiondata sub or does the program do it for you?

so if you have a A bad configured server what can i do to make this work

A bad configured server FS looks like this:

/root
 |
 |--/htdocs (web-area)
        |
        |--/cgi-bin

thanks

Hi Propsrus
The data directories/files are where it stores the listings and reg info.
If the server allows, make a folder in your root directory, name it eAuction,
try basepath
$config{'basepath'}              = '/@@@@/@/0/51/93//user/@@@@@@/eAuction';
chmod eConfig161.pl to 400

john

/root (home)
 |
 |--/eAuction161 (the data directory)
 |
 |--/htdocs (web-area)
        |
        |--/eAuction (the html directory)
        |
        |--/cgi-bin
                 |
                 |--/eAuction161 (the program directory)

Better (more secure):

/root (home)
 |
 |--/eAuction161 (the data directory)
 |
 |--/cgi-bin
 |        |
 |        |--/eAuction161 (the program directory)
 |
 |--/htdocs (web-area)
          |
          |--/eAuction (the html directory)
          |
