Title: My written English Post by Dieter Werner on 02/17/05 at 18:46:18 A user told me that a lot of english/american people are angry with me because I'm using the English language without being able to express myself with that. I am very sad about my inability :'( but I hope that the content of my contributions will come over and that my code is much better as my English ever can be. Life is very hard to stay. Take it easy - take a beer ;) |
Title: Re: My written English Post by marqpdx on 02/17/05 at 18:51:43 Dieter, Your english is fine! Plus, your software rocks!! Anyone who uses the net should be able to read in multiple languages, or at least read the english written by a german, a spaniard, a brit, an american, or a south african. It's not that complicated if you already speak english. If you don't, learn it, or learn chinese or spanish or german... All i'm saying is your english is fully satisfactory, viel besser als mein Deutsch! Vielen dank fuer eAuction! danke, mark |
Title: Re: My written English Post by rancynd on 02/23/05 at 08:11:44 ;D Theres nothing wrong with your english. And i am very impressed with your work. God bless ya. A PROUD AMERICAN |
Title: Re: My written English Post by tim200869 on 06/22/05 at 01:46:04 I am part German and very sorry to say that your English is far better than my German will ever be. Don't take it to heart. Sein Engish ist sehr gut, mein Deutsch ist nicht. Your compainent should remember that not only do you answer in English, your scripts are also in English. Keep up the good work |
Title: Re: My written English Post by mars on 06/28/05 at 19:52:10 Dieter, Upon investigation you will find that you speak and understand a lot more English than your critics do German. That would classify you as erudite and your critics as ignoramuses. If you English critics are American they are, for the most part, too lazy to learn another language or two so expect everone else on the planet to learn English. I know, being a gringo. mars |
Title: Re: My written English Post by p00bah on 07/17/05 at 13:00:48 Dieter: Most of it has already been said but I felt I had to add my tuppenceworth... I maintain that communication is key. I have read your responses to some less than intelligent questions (kudos my man, I wouldn't have the patience) and found them perfectly clear. In survival of the species the axiom is "adapt or die"- can anyone afford to be so inflexible as to not gloss over minor imperfections in order to glean information, knowledge and help? As a native English speaker, I am more offended by the abuse the language suffers at the mouth of some English and American alleged native English speakers than any genuine effort made by an EASL (acromym for English As Second Language - not and NEVER any mis-spelled inference about donkeys, asses and the like :-*) Do not allow the criticism of fools to even enter your stratosphere - you (and your linguistic abilities) are appreciated and admired for your patience and for the sterling work you have done on this script. Party on Dude! |
Title: Re: My written English Post by Elvis on 07/22/05 at 19:01:31 Dieter- I have no problem with your english, like the rest. Your software is excellent. |
Title: Re: My written English Post by Peter on 08/19/05 at 12:12:22 Hello I am a professional teacher of English as a Foreign Language My own opinion is that you should not concern yourself with any remarks denigrating your English which is better than that of many native English speakers that I know. Best regards |

Title: Re: My written English Post by tazilon on 06/20/07 at 00:37:44 Dieter... Your written English is far better than my written or spoken German. I have no difficulty understanding what you are trying to convey when I read your English. Regards... -Rick Kalada |

I know this is an older post but it's funny because I was just thinking how it is sad that I do not know very much german and how trying to answer a question could get me in trouble, even though it would be due to a limited vocabulary , on my part. Just for example , if someone were to ask a question, and I were to realize that they just aren't getting the real point , I may have to say something like dunkoff (Because I know nothing closer to tell them they misunderstand) and risk offending someone unintentionally, so I must keep my mouth shut; instead of trying to explain in the best way I know how. In other words I understand what he is going through and I for one would disregard most anything someone might say while making a point. also I might add, that as you can see my English is'n that great either, so for now I shall keep working on my native tong (English) ,and save learning other lingo's for later. P.S. thanks to the author here of eAuction, for the email on your having time to work on this forum/auction thing, and I wish I could have found time to come here sooner , but there was a lot going on at the home front. Thanks to all , and as soon as I get all the nessary O.S. aditions on my machine to run eAuction , I'll check your English (Just kidding, about the english.) |
