HI:

To give you some background on the reason for this request. Dieter as you may or may not remember my auction site auctions fire arms. Well I just had a request from the Police to block the sending of home address to the winner of bid and vise versa.

The reason for the request is to stop or at least to not aid in home invasions. It does make sense. Anyone having items someone may be interested in stealing could get the information by being the successful bidder.

I would still like the information for our records (There is a discussion about if this info is necessary) but would like to be able to block what fields are sent to whom. Other may also have a need for this ability.

Just a thought.

I see ...
but so far as I understand the reason:
This must be valid only for the address data of the seller
Am I wrong?

It would apply to seller or buyer. The idea is to show only data that is really necessary. ie: alias and e-mail address. That way you are not letting anyone know the address where guns (money, gems, etc) are located.

As with the phone number, the address is something we would like at this moment. That may change. I really don’t see any need for collecting the address but that is another story and some people I’m sure will want to collect it.
