Maybe your zip file is corrupted.
Download a fresh copy and try it again ...  ;)

Thankyou for your swift reply

I have tried another zip file but still the same.

If i 'view source' with my browser there are only html 'head' and 'body' tags there, nothing else!

It seems strange that i get no error messages.

I am a little confused as to wether i should be making a data directory somewhere on my server as well as the eAuction directory in my cgi bin?..or does it make these automatically?

Thanks

I just found out that my isp only has Perl 5.008 installed..could this be the problem?

Hi.
The **** are my user id so i replaced it in my post here  with the asterisks.

Should this path point to the cgi-bin/eAuction161 directory then?

Thanks
Phil

Where is your cgi-bin directory located?

Is it
/home/********/public_html/cgi-bin

or is it
/home/********/cgi-bin

Same problem here:

http://www.areacode603.com/cgi-bin/eAuction161/eAuction.pl

permission denied.

basepath:
home/vhosts/areacode603.com/cgi-bin/eAuction161/edata

Here are some of the error messages from my log:

After much fiddlin', I tried changing eConfig161.pl permissions to 444...worked!

also used basepath option (get_path=0) and don't forget, no trailing slash on  basepath.

Thanks,

Ron

Title: I also get a blank screen
Post by jerryco on 08/05/06 at 20:54:59

I have read the similiar thread and tried all the recommendations.  I still have a blank screen.

I called my ISP and they are running Perl 5.6.1

I have changed the attribs on the files according to setup and I tried the 444 the last user suggested.  If you have any suggestions I am open.

Thanks,

Jerry C.

This
Code:
# The Path to a 'NON-WEBACCESSABLE' directory of your system
# Maybe you have to chmode it if you use your own setting

$config{'get_path'}              = 0; # Set this from 1 to 0 if you want to use your own setting
  $config{'basepath'}              = '/u18/hidden/cgi-bin/eAuction161';

is a wrong configuration.

The basepath is NOT the path to the program!
The basepath is the path to the data directory (which should be a 'NON-WEBACCESSABLE' directory)

Why don't you use the automatic path-detection?
$config{'get_path'}              = 1;

Why do you disable file locking?
$config{'flock'}  should be 1
